Permanently surrounded by the Ocean
Oitavos Dunes Golf Course lies within the Sintra and Cascais Natural Park. It is set among pine woods and reforested dunes, in an area of great natural beauty. Being a seaside golf course, the ocean view is present all the time, although some of the more fantastic scenery comes from the Sintra mountains and Cabo da Roca the Europe's most western point, seen from the 9, 10, 11 and 14 holes.

The layout of Oitavos Dunes Golf Course has been carefully crafted by one of the greatest golf architects of our times, ex-president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Arthur Hills.
And it is already set as one of the best golf courses in Europe. The Oitavos owner's goal was to create one of the finest golf experiences in Europe, all within the elegant natural and historical framework inherent to the Quinta. They felt that with a site so rich in innate beauty, each hole of Oitavos must fit ideally in the setting, thus assuring a natural appearance with variety and charm. To accomplish this objective of excellence, the management of Oitavos Dunes Golf Club has established strict rules of respect towards the land. The quality and the maintenance of the course have to be perfect.
Constant fight against the wind
With this orientation, the wind is an integral part of the golfing experience. The prevailing wind is from the north, but can swing 180º to blow off the sea. This makes Oitavos Dunes like "a passionate woman, always liable to spring a change but never boring!"
A real experience
Oitavos Dunes Golf Course offers three distinct landscape forms: forested area (with the most beautiful umbrella pine trees in the world), dunes land, and the more open coastal transition areas. The Oitavos Dunes golf course has been carefully routed to take advantage of all three zones, featuring all of their distinct characteristics. The routing is a continuous loop of holes, nine out and nine in, similar to links land courses in Scotland.
Environment is a top priority
The sustainability of the resources is the prior objective for Oitavos Dunes Golf Course, and because of that the flora and fauna peculiar to the region are strictly protected, being some areas closed to people and machines. Quinta da Marinha Oitavos Golf is the 1st Golf Course in Europe and the 2nd in the Word being recognized as a Certified Signature Sanctuary - Gold. Watch out where you step!
A modern clubhouse
The "state of the art" Oitavos Dunes Clubhouse functions ideally in providing every facility to the player. The largely glass construction, offers panoramas to the Oitavos golf course and the sea.

Along the A5 to Cascais. At the end of the motorway, turn towards Birre and then to Torre. Follow the signs to Quinta da Marinha. Once there, follow the signs that indicate "Quinta da Marinha / Oitavos Golf".
