The Penha Longa Golf Course is a fabulous 18 hole coures situated in Sintra, only 30 minutes from Lisbon. The Penha Longa Resort forms part of the Protected Landscape Area of Sintra and Cascais.
Quinta da Penha Longa is a relevant historical site because the first monastery of the Order of St. Jerome was built there in 1355. Over the past 600 years Penha Longa has undergone several changes and many buildings have been constructed there, such as the Palace, the Church, the Fountain of Tears, the Fountain of St. Gonçalo and the Palace of the Marquis of Angeja.

This means that the first three holes and the final three of Penha Longa Golf Course are laid out in a valley wooded with pines and studded with granite outcrops. The 6th to the 13th holes, meanwhile, have been built on a hill offering extensive views over the region.

How to get there?
Take the A5 direction to Cascais. Take the Sintra exit and follow the signs saying Sintra. You will pass the Cascais Shopping center (on your right), keep straight, after that you will cross 3 round-
abouts, keep straight. On the 4th, take the inverse direction, you will find a sign saying Penha Longa. Turn right at the sign and follow untill you reach the main gate on your left hand side.

In 2009, the Penha Longa Atlantic Golf Course suffered extensive renovations:
Comprehensive drainage work, a full irrigation upgrade, bunker renovation with drainage and new sand added and a over-seeding of fairways and tees has been completed on the Atlantic Course.
