Bom Sucesso is located in Obidos, Portugal, in the West Region, The SILVER COAST, on the banks of the Obidos lagoon, near the beach and approximately 50 minutes away from Lisbon.
A Donald Steel's design
The 18-hole Championship Golf course of Bom Sucesso designed by the world-renowned architect Donald Steel has opened to the public very recently.
Bom Sucesso is a PAR 72 golf course with an area exceeding 600 thousand sqm. The first 9 holes are played on a level part of the terrain while the second nine are located on uneven terrain, and are therefore quite spectacular. With a great site, the Bom Sucesso golf course takes full advantage of a series of spectacular views, some are breathtaking and others just subtly attractive.
Going back to the roots of golf
As far as the style of the Bom Sucesso Golf Course is concerned, the intention has been to replicate the look of some of the old classic courses in the shaping woks. The brief to the shapers has been to instil plenty of randomness in the green surrounds and approaches. This will make them appear less created by machine and more as thought they were fashioned by the tools that the architects of the early part of the last century had at their disposal.
The green surfaces have interesting and challenging undulation without being too severe. The bunkers will have steep faces and are being shaped with choppy and gnarled features rather than taking a very smooth appearance.
Enjoyable for all level players
Thought has been given to the length-challenged player, as well as the low handicapper. From the White Tees, Bom Sucesso is a golf course difficult enough to test the world’s top players, yet from the forward tees, long carries are eliminated, so that all can enjoy the experience of navigating around the variety of well-placed hazards on this course.
Best holes of Bom Sucesso
The final three holes of the Bom Sucesso golf course, are some of the most exciting in Portugal. The 17th in particular is a truly great hole. It is a par 5 and is located at the highest elevation of the site, swinging downhill and right to left over some superb ridges to a green which will have the lagoon of Obidos as its backdrop. The temptation for the best golfers will be to cut the corner to reach the green in two but the steeply sloping ground to the left of the hole will make this a dangerous approach.

How to get there?
Bom Sucesso Golf Course is served by a set of recently built motorways, namely, A8, A15 and IP6.
From Lisbon Airport (85 km including 71 km in motorway):
At the roundabout on the exit of the Airport, follow the signs to A8 OESTE. Head towards A8 LEIRIA during 65 Km. Take EXIT 13- way A-DA-GORDA. Head towards AMOREIRA (follow the BOM SUCESSO red signs) during 3Km. At AMOREIRA, turn right in direction to VAU/BOM SUCESSO. Head 4 Km until you find Obidos Lagoon. You arrive in BOM SUCESSO.
